Mid Fire Clay

WC391 - B3 Brown

This pliable clay with smooth grog is ideal for sculpture, handbuilding, and throwing, making it a truly versatile choice. Its rich manganese and iron content gives it a deep, almost black color when fired in oxidation. Not recommended for firings hotter than Cone 5.

WC394 - SB Red

Laguna’s semi-smooth red clay body, known as "Santa Barbara Red," contains both sand and grog and fires to a classic paver tile red. Ideal for both handbuilding and throwing.

WC400 - Moroccan Sand

Moroccan Sand is a Laguna Cone 5 clay body that fires to a light beige in oxidation. Fully vitreous, it is ideal for throwing functional ware and vase making.

WC401 - B Mix Δ5

With a smooth, porcelain-like texture, this white stoneware is a pleasure to throw and form. It fires to a creamy white color and is recommended for throwing as a more affordable alternative to true porcelain. Not ideal for handbuilding or sculpture.

WC402 - Half & Half Δ5

This clay combines equal parts white stoneware and porcelain. The result is a versatile, fully vitrified, and highly throwable white body that fires to a soft off-white hue — ideal for both throwing and handbuilding.

WC403 - Speckled Buff

Low in sand and grog, Speckled Buff features a smooth texture and is an excellent, versatile clay body ideal for both throwing and handbuilding. Its warm color palette evokes desert and Southwest tones, firing to a tan-brown shade.

WC408 - B Mix w/ Speckles

This clay body shares the same working properties as regular B Mix. Smooth and highly plastic, it’s best suited for throwing, and prefers slow drying and thorough compression on rims and bottoms to prevent cracking. Not recommended for firings higher than Cone 5.

WC420 - Redstone

A red stoneware clay body with medium grog that is fully vitrified at Cone 5, making it ideal for functional ware and vases. Perfect for handbuilding and throwing small to medium pieces. Fires to a warm brick red.

WC436 - B Mix w/ Grog

Featuring very fine grog, this body offers a slight texture and minimal speckling, making it easier to work with than traditional B Mix. Ideal for throwing or handbuilding.

WC437 - Frost Porcelain

The whitest and most translucent of all the mid-fire porcelain clay bodies. Perfect for throwing delicate, refined pieces.

WC617 - #16 Porcelain

This porcelain clay body, often referred to as "Miller," has medium translucency and is highly plastic — perfect for throwing and handbuilding.

WC851 - 52 Buff

Similar to Speckled Buff, this smooth, low-sand-and-grog clay is a versatile choice for throwing and handbuilding. Known as Plain Buff, it fires to a warm sandy color, perfect for a variety of creative projects.

WC871 - Calico

A versatile, general-purpose clay suitable for all forming methods. Contains 60 mesh sand for a medium texture, and specks that may bleed into glazes. Fires to a gray/buff color.
